Allow Me To Introduce Myself...

If we haven’t met before, hello! I’m Dominique the creative behind Dmarzdesigns. Thanks for checking out my new blog!

I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself a little bit on this here blog so you can get an idea of who I am, what I do, and what you can expect to see in future posts. I haven’t blogged properly in years so I may be a little rusty, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right? So without further ado…

Who’s That Girl?

I started Dmarzdesigns way back in 2010/11 out of sheer curiosity to see where my creative prowess would take me outside of uni and my day job, as I was having an endless number of ideas but no personal creative outlet for them to thrive in.

I’ve always been drawn to typography and exploring the different ways it can bring meaning and individuality to my work, but over the past year that has manifested itself into an undying love for hand lettering and calligraphy (evident in my portfolio and on my Instagram!)

Why Hand Lettering?

Originally, I only wanted to learn lettering so I could have prettier headings and notes in my bullet journal (honestly, the amount of inspiration out there is insane. It’s hard not to want a pretty bullet journal). But after spending countless hours practicing and constantly finding new inspiration, it has become my main source of creative magic. Treating myself to an iPad after completing 30 days of practice out of 100 really solidified my love for it, and if you follow me on Instagram (@dmarzdesigns) you’ll see just how obsessed I am with it!

When I’m not creating…

Which, as most creatives would say is a rare case, you’ll most likely find me listening to true crime podcasts or watching documentaries, admiring my favourite bands live for the umpteenth time, attempting to complete whatever game I’m playing on the Playstation, or exploring London for the best Matcha tea.

So what’s going to be on this blog, then?

My aim for this blog is to talk more about my design processes, inspirations, projects I’m currently working on and any design tips and tricks I stumble across along the way. If there’s anything you would like to learn or know more about, comment below or send me a message and I’ll see what I can do!
