How this holistic medicine practitioner connects with international clients through strategic design

Elena Gerasimova is a holistic medicine practitioner specialising in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other holistic therapy modalities. She believes in helping people create a healthy life full of joy and potential, holistically balancing physical and emotional issues.

Pre-pandemic, most of her work stemmed from clients overseas and word-of-mouth referrals. Her website wasn't being treated as an essential part of her business, had been gathering a lot of digital dust and was hindering her business growth.

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Word Witch Siobhan from ThisSisterScribes on a rebrand and new website design that took Elena from brand confusion to brand clarity.

Some of the main brand and UX issues with Elena’s previous website included:

  • An outdated design with no real brand personality or voice

  • Dead-end pages

  • Important call to action buttons didn't work

  • Lack of a thoughtful online journey for potential clients

When she first connected with me, she wasn't confident about how her business was being represented, had no idea how to improve things but was ready to make a change for the better. The pandemic era had shown her just how important having an updated online presence is when you need to pivot your business strategy and your approach to connecting with potential clients.

By working with her through the design process, we:

  • Defined a new brand and website strategy that brought to light the foundations of Elena's business, including her brand values, purpose, ideal client personas, what makes her different from other holistic therapists, and her brand personality. The website strategy defined a refreshed website structure to improve the user experience and meet her main objective of gaining more online bookings.

  • Refreshed her visual branding to be less cliché and feel more refined.

  • Redesigned and rebuilt her website on Squarespace, removing a lot of the deadweight content and focusing on bringing to life the essential pieces of information about her business.

Huge strides were made to improve Elena's brand experience to a place where she feels so much more connected with it. It’s more representative of who she is, her work style, and is getting her back on track towards hitting her business goals.

I feel more confident and I’m not embarrassed about my website as I was before.

In Elena’s Words:

“First of all, Dominique impressed me with her project offer. It looked so very professional and detailed and I had no doubt I had to work with her. During the whole process we went step-by-step through the stages, I was given clear deadlines and instructions which helped a lot.

Dominique always elaborated on her design views and why she was choosing this or that design. It was a wonderful process! I feel more confident and I'm not embarrassed about my website as I was before. I can now proudly give my website details to my potential clients. I definitely feel that my new website is looking more professional and highlighting the best skills/healing modalities I can offer to people.”
